In 1936 he moved to New York City, directed solely to the personal pursuit of painting, supporting himself when necessary by teaching. Involved in the climate, physicality and passion of the 1950s, Vicente's work established him as
Vicente was lured to Paris in 1927, inspired and challenged by the excitement of the city's moderwn artistic activity. In 1936 he moved to New York City, directed solely to the personal pursuit of painting, supporting himself when necessary by teaching. Involved in the climate, physicality and passion of the 1950s, Vicente's work established him as an integral part of the New York School. The energy of the 1950s through 2000 expresses itself in the quality and focus of his painting, collage, drawing and sculpture.
